End of August Update

 Hello Family and Friends,

Long time, no post! We are still in Ontario at our campground just outside of Burks Falls. Lin is very happy to watch the Maple trees slowly turning to glorious oranges and reds. We’ve just finished filling candy treat bags for the Halloween parade that happens in the RV park this weekend. This campground is a hub of activity and we’ve already made arrangements to return next summer!

Lin’s recovery has been really quite remarkable compared to the first two surgeries. A few minor blips, but nothing that couldn’t be handled WITHOUT trips to the hospital! However, we are now facing another surgery this fall. When we returned to Ontario, we had a conversation with Lin’s thoracic surgeon (Kelowna) who recommended the removal of a nodule in her right lung. The Kelowna docs have been following this aberration for a few years and the latest CT scan showed it had grown. So, out it comes. Yes, there were some choice swears here in our trailer! But we trust our docs’ judgment. We’ll keep you posted about that.

Right now, we are anticipating with glee Terry and Alicia’s wedding in a couple of weeks. Last weekend, they took DIL Tonya and I to a ZZTOP concert! Great fun!!! But the best part came at the end of the concert. Terry grabbed my hand to lead me out thru the crowds. After decades of being the one who’s continually scanning to know where everyone was, it was soooo comforting to be taken care of by my wonderful grandson!!

And we got to see a winning Blue Jays game! Nuff said!

We’ll be leaving the centre of the universe after the wedding and stopping along the way for visits.

  1. OK, finally managed to enter the blog. You two are missing smokey mornings on the deck breathing in the effects of forest fires in Kelowna and elsewhere. Something close to the Jays winning. Trust all is well with you Linda. I tried your iPhone the other night as I wanted to question your knowledge of Shilo and vicinity but got the news from the new owner that the number was cancelled! Our health is improving here and we envy your camping experience and expect to be back in the field for photography by next spring. It's a winter of rehab. Have a safe road home.

  2. Greetings to you! So happy Linda had once again squashed the beast! Congratulations. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ₯΄πŸ₯°πŸ₯° Yes it has been a hot and smoky summer spent mostly inside in Vernon.
We were at the family cabin in June for a few days then back again end of August for our quilt
Retreat! Donna had hand surgery August 4th so john has been chief dog walker since then. We had friends visit in July and Donnas cousin and daughter from Sorrento for nearly two weeks evacuated from Sorrento due to wildfire. They are still on high alert as fire near them is a stubborn buggar. John is in Ontario for a week checking in with his brothers and the annual gathering of the aunties! Brother Wayne has been quite unwell losing his vision and theyve finally found an anurysm in his brain which will require surgical intervention. Donna’s brother. Larry had shoulder replacement surgery in July and is recovering very well from that. He had a huge seizure after his brain surgery last November which caused a week long hospitalization and his vision and short term memory took quite a hit! But he doesnt blink twice and they will be off to Ontario for grand daughters 1st birthday then on to. Caribean cruise! We will all head to my sisters in Bremerton WA for Canadian Thanksgiving! Well, thats us ! Safe travels home. Perhaps there will be an opportunity for a Sundazers reunion before Christmas…..πŸ₯΄πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ’žπŸ’ž
